Subsidies and Scholarships (on-campus)

2021 – 2022 Application for LSS Life-wide Learning Fund

Qualification:

S1 – S6 students

 

Application Methods:

Students should complete the reply slip which will be distributed and handled by the School in the first half of October.

 

Subsidy:

The school will calculate the amount of students’ attendance at activities and distribute the subsidy at the end of each semester accordingly. Although dependent on the grant amount, the subsidy to each student will not exceed $1500, including off-campus subsidies.

2021-2022 On-campus Subsidies and Scholarships

ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School Alumni Club – “Tam Kwan Yiu Scholarship”

Principle:

To reward students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance, have displayed admirable moral character, shown excellent leadership, undertaken volunteer service, or have achieved significant improvement, etc.

 

Procedures:

Students who have made significant progress comparative to the previous semester, will be awarded. For example, their average score must be “pass” or above and the conduct score should be B+ or above. They should have displayed leadership qualities or have undertaken volunteer service. Class teachers first recommend their own students. Recommended students may not make the greatest progress in their class or average score but reach the standard in other areas. Successful students will then be chosen from those recommended, who have shown the most significant progress (in ranking) in their semester final exam.

 

Rewards:

We accept recommendations once in the first semester and in the second semester. Those students who receive the award will be granted a certificate of appreciation and HK$300.

 

 

ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School Alumni Club –Lui Kai Shing Scholarship

Principle:

The purpose of this Scholarship is to award and encourage students who have shown themselves to be in pursuit academic excellence.

 

Procedures:

Recommended students should be, in the semester final exam, ranked first in their class and have passed the average score. Students receiving the award will be granted a certificate of appreciation and a book voucher to the value of HK$500.

 

 

ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School Parent-teacher Association – “Excellent Performance Scholarship”

-          Language

-          Music

-          Physical Education

-          Visual Art

-          Performing Arts / Leadership

-          Information Technology

 

Procedures:

In December, we accept teachers’ recommendations to award students for excellent performance in the previous or current year in the following areas: Language, Music, Physical Education, Visual Art, Information Technology, Performing Arts and Leadership.

 

Rewards:

There is a Junior Group and a Senior Group. Each group allows for two students to be awarded. 24 students will be awarded. Each student will be granted a certificate of appreciation and scholarship.

 

 

ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School - “Star Scholarship”

Principle:

The purpose of this Scholarship is to award and encourage students who have demonstrated an excellent performance in Activities, Competition, Training, Services or other learning experiences.

 

Procedures:

In September and October, all students complete the “Star Scholarship” application form. The judges select the students who have participated in sports, art, music or other activities, competitions, training, services, and so on.

 

Rewards:

Five students will be awarded in each form. Each student will be granted a certificate of appreciation and a scholarship.

 

 

ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School Alumni Club – “Cheng Chung Hei Scholarship”

Principle:

The purpose of this Scholarship is to award and encourage students who have displayed the pursuit excellence in Fine Art and Music.

 

Procedures:

In considering which students will be awarded for outstanding performance in the Arts, we primarily accept recommendations from Music and Visual Art teachers. If too many students are recommended, we will consider its allocation according to: other rewards received, gender balance, music and art rewards.

 

Rewards:

Four students will be awarded. Each student will be granted a certificate of appreciation and HK$1000.

 

ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School Alumni Club –Yeung Shun Ching Scholarship

Principle:

In the 2019 – 2020 academic year, the school received HK$3,000,000 in the form of a donation from alumnus Mr. Yeung Suet Ching. The purpose of this scholarship is to help S6 students with financial needs to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree, including local, non-local, publicly funded or non-publicly funded bachelor’s degree programmes. Associate degree and overseas bridging programmes are not included.

 

Procedures:

Qualified graduates need to complete the “Yeung Shun Ching Scholarship” application form which should be submitted to the school office on or before 31 October 2021.

 

Rewards:

Students who accept financial support or full level of assistance, will be granted a certificate of appreciation and HK$20,000. Those students who accept half level of assistance, will be granted a certificate of appreciation and HK$10,000.

 

 

ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School Alumni Club –Star Scholarship”

Principle:

In the 2020 – 2021 academic year, Mr. Yeung Suet Ching established the Star Scholarship”. The purpose of this scholarship is to award outstanding students who have achieved 5* or 5** in the HKDSE.

 

Rewards:

Students who obtain 5* and 5** in any subject (non-division) will be awarded HK$1,000 and HK$2,000 respectively. There is no restriction placed on the total amount awarded through this scholarship; that is, students who score 5** in 6 subjects will be awarded HK$12,000.
