Dear Parents and Students,
Quality education in positive self-cultivation
Adhering to the spirit of Christ, our school has been serving the community for over half a century. Through learning the gospel at school, students learn to build a positive philosophy and right morality, and to become a pillar who is capable of bearing every responsibility and serve in the community. We believe truly in every child with their own potential and conscience. If we can provide them with opportunities in their growth, they will be able to develop their capabilities and shine in their lives. With the parents’ support and joint efforts of teachers and students, students have been achieving excellent outcomes in academic results and outstanding performances in various areas in recent years.
Fine-tuning in English learning
With the implementation of the policy “Fine-tuning the Medium of Instruction for Secondary Schools”, education has embarked on a new milestone. Together with the support from parents, teachers and students, the second cycle of Fine-tuning the Medium of Instruction of Secondary Schools, started in 2017, was not affected by the drop in the population of school-age children. As in the past, subjects of two classes are taught in English so students can gradually adapt to English learning and prepare for further studies and employment. We also provide “Bilingual classes” while creating an English learning environment. I believe, the active learning of students, teachers’ professional guidance, coupled with the support of parents, the effectiveness of school learning and teaching will further build on the current foundation.
World small class teaching
The new senior secondary curriculum enables students to learn in a more broad, balanced and diverse way. In order to further consolidate the learning of our students, we have implemented the teaching of small classes to different extents many years ago in the core subjects of the school: Chinese, English, Mathematics and Liberal Studies. Taking English as an example, students from S1 to S6 are taught in small groups to provide them with the most appropriate care. To meet the challenges of the future and grasp the opportunities of global integration, we need to let our students know the motherland and look to the world. Following the past few years’ excursions to Germany, Italy, the United States, Singapore, South Korea, Beijing, Shanghai, Ningbo, Fujian, Guangzhou, Hunan, Kaiping and Taiwan, last year, we invited students and teachers from Denmark, Sweden, Japan, Italy, the United States and Ningbo to hold "International Friendship Day" in our school. We believe that through our teaching, students can have a broad international perspective, a correct outlook on life and a good language proficiency to effectively meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Our vision is to further enhance the quality of education in our school and serve every new generation who aspires to surpass themselves and keep progressing. We believe that "The Lutheran" must be able to move forward in the new century and fly high!/strong>
May the grace of the Lord be with you
Mr. Liang Kwun Fan
